October 7, 2020

The team just returned from their first out-of-state trip with a weekend in the New Orleans area playing five scrimmages against area teams, including other Voodoo club teams. Not only was it great experience for the girls, but also an opportunity for all the teams to practice situations (e.g. runners on 1st & 3rd) while still competing.

Highlights from Game 1 against Voodoo 18U included pitching from Emma Nagy, Lindsay Ferguson, Alex Nyberg. In addition, Lindsey Murai and Emily Gleeson had hits for RBIs.

In Game 2 against Eastern Ascension 18U, the team racked up 14 hits and 14 runs. Belle Schmidt led the way with three hits in the game, and Emma Nagy had a home run. Alex Nyberg, Emma Nagy, and Mia Rogers combined for only two hits out of the pitcher’s circle.

Saturday games finished up with Game 3 against Eastern Ascension 16U. Mia Rogers had a great showing in the pitcher’s circle allowing only one hit and one run over three innings. Other highlights included a double by Olivia Glover and singles by Rogers and Lindsay Ferguson.

On Sunday, the team played two games before heading back to the Seattle area. Emma Nagy and Lindsay Ferguson shared the pitching duties against Voodoo 16U. Additional highlights included a first pitch double by Belle Schmidt and singles by Olivia Glover and Lindsey Murai.

In the final game of the trip, the team battled Nola Fastpitch 18U along with the heat and humidity. During the fourth inning, singles by Mia Rogers, Lindsey Murai, and Emma Nagy tied the game up. Rogers pitched two innings allowing zero hits and zero runs.
